Is anything wrong with buying a used snowboard from Goodwill/Salvation Army?

i go snowboarding like once or twice a year and really enjoy it but i really wan my own instead of renting all the time. im no pro, i basically just ride down the mountain still learning a bit so i really dont need any pro snowboard or anything.i know that its supposd to go about up to my chin, but is there anything really BAD by buying a used snowboard?
